The band

The Swinging Rendez-Vous were created by Tibo and Jeremy, two french musicians in Melbourne, that share the same love for Jazz. The band is dedicated to play french musical touch, from Gypsy Jazz (Django Reihnart), traditional french songs (Edith Piaf), modern french songs (-M-) and even some Zouk.

Every show is different, and specially adapted to the event. We welcome requests or guests to come on stage to play with them.

Thibaut Favalessa (Voice, guitar and piano)

Born in Toulouse, in France, Tibo now resides in Melbourne Australia. Learnt classical and jazz music in University and national conservatory of Toulouse, Tibo is a professional singer and instrumentalist (Piano, Keyboard, Guitar), performs mostly in French, but also in English, Spanish, and Italian. Vivaldi to Beatles, Jacques Brel to Bach, Tchaikovsky to Cold play, Albeniz to Youri Buenaventura, Edith Piaff to Eric Clapton, Yann Tiersen to Django Reihnardt, relaxing French romantic music (for dinner) or Classics discos (dance floor), Tibo has endeavoured to embrace the world of music. In solo or accompanied by local musicians, (Duo, Trio, up to 8 members band), with a french touch, you design the night to suit your venue and your guests.

Tim Willis (Guitar)

Tim Willis grew up in country New South Wales and started playing the guitar at age 12. In 2001 he began studying at the Australian National University’s School Of Music, studying under Mike Price and George Golla. In 2005 he moved to Paris, France and began trying to eek out some kind of musical existence there. It wasn’t long before he started Playing in some of Paris’ best Known clubs. During his time in Europe Tim toured in Ireland, England and France and performed at the ‘Fete De La Music De Thionville’ in north eastern France. He also Performed with his band ‘Tang’ at the ‘Fete De Jazz de les Yvellines’.Tim’s band THE END released their first album of original compositions all composed by Tim, In May 2011. This group has toured nationally several times and has received outstanding reviews. Tim will be releasing a new album in June.

Chelsea Allen (Drums)

Chelsea Allen is an engaging drummer and percussionist with over 10 years performance experience in improvised and popular/contemporary music. After undertaking studies at the QLD Conservatorium of Music, she relocated to Melbourne, seeking a more vibrant musical culture. Her musical resumé includes stints with Fat Tuesday (5-piece original funk band), The Calibre Cats (10-piece neo-swing band), QLD Conservatorium big band, The Impermanence (jazz standards), Ade Ishs Trio (contemporary jazz/fusion), Peter Dickybird (pop/rock) and Swinging Rendez-vous (jazz/folk/manouche). She is currently undertaking further studies at Monash Conservatorium.

Jeremy Marozeau (Double-bass)

Jeremy Marozeau is a French double-bass player. He has played with many bands around the world including Juli Manzi Collectivo in Paris and  Miss Tess  and the Bon Ton Parade in Boston. In 2008, he has meet Thibaut while playing together with the Martini Sisters in Melbourne. His bass lines are robust and straight to point, and is heavily influenced by musicians such as Charlie Haden and Charlie Mingus.
